Elsinore Theatre – A Restored Historic Theater in Downtown Salem

Located at 170 High Street SE in Salem, Oregon, the Elsinore Theatre originally opened in 1926 and remains one of the city’s most recognized historic landmarks. Inspired by the castle in Shakespeare’s Hamlet, the theater is known for its distinctive Gothic-style architecture and ornate interior design. The venue hosts concerts, theatrical productions, dance performances, films, comedy, and community events throughout the year. The theater features seating for more than 1,200 guests.

Operated as a nonprofit performing arts venue, the Elsinore Theatre has been restored while preserving its historic character and architectural detail. Situated in downtown Salem, the theater continues to serve as an important destination for arts, entertainment, and cultural programming in Oregon’s capital city.
