Paramount Theatre – A Restored Movie Palace in Cedar Rapids

The Paramount Theatre, at 123 3rd Avenue SE in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, first opened in 1928 as a vaudeville and movie palace. After sustaining significant flood damage in 2008, it was meticulously restored and reopened in 2012, showcasing its lavish chandeliers, gilded interiors, and classic proscenium stage. With seating for more than 1,600, it now hosts Broadway tours, concerts, dance, and community productions. Its downtown location places it close to restaurants, shops, and the Cedar River, making it both a historic treasure and a lively hub for entertainment.
