Academy Center of the Arts – Historic Theatre Reimagined
Located at 600 Main Street in Lynchburg, Virginia, the Academy Center of the Arts includes the restored Academy of Music Theatre, a Gilded Age gem that first opened in 1905. After decades of closure, it reopened in 2018 following a meticulous renovation that preserved its ornate plasterwork, balconies, and historic charm. With seating for about 800, it offers an intimate yet elegant setting for concerts, theater, and dance. Situated in downtown Lynchburg, the Academy Center also houses galleries and studios, making it a vibrant hub for both performing and visual arts.
