The Balboa Theatre, at 868 Fourth Avenue in downtown San Diego, California, originally opened in 1924 as a vaudeville and movie palace. After decades of use and a period of closure, it was fully restored and reopened in 2008 as part of the San Diego Theatres organization. With Spanish Colonial Revival architecture, hand-painted details, and a warm, intimate atmosphere, the Balboa provides a distinctive backdrop for concerts, comedy, dance, and film.
