The Coronado Performing Arts Center, at 314 North Main Street in Rockford, Illinois, first opened in 1927 and has long been known as “Rockford’s Wonder Theatre.” Its elaborate Spanish and Italian Revival design features hand-painted murals, gilded balconies, and a star-lit ceiling that create a magical atmosphere for audiences. Fully restored in the early 2000s, the Coronado now combines historic beauty with modern performance technology. Hosting Broadway tours, concerts, dance, and community events, it remains one of Illinois’ most stunning cultural landmarks. Its downtown setting offers convenient access to restaurants and hotels.
