Genesee Theatre – A Restored Historic Theater in Downtown Waukegan

Located at 203 North Genesee Street in Waukegan, Illinois, the Genesee Theatre originally opened in 1927 as a vaudeville movie palace and remains one of the region’s most recognizable historic entertainment venues. The theater hosts concerts, comedy, dance performances, theatrical productions, and community events throughout the year. The venue features seating for more than 2,400 guests.

Restored and renovated while preserving its historic architectural character, the Genesee Theatre combines classic design with modern production capabilities for touring productions and live entertainment. Situated in downtown Waukegan, the theater continues to serve as an important cultural destination for audiences across northern Illinois and the Chicago metropolitan area.
